Digistamps4Joy Challenge #104 - Christmas

Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the snowman was a fairytale they say
He was made of snow but the children know
How he came to life one day...

Hi all, it's that time of year again, time for carolers, hot chocolate or hot apple cider, nights spent cuddling on the couch watching all of the old and new Christmas movies...you get the idea...Christmas is coming!!! It is also my turn to host our challenge at DS4J and so I have chosen Christmas as the theme. Christmas has always been my favorite time of year, I love all of the carols and time spent doing traditional things. Every year my dad would set up the Christmas tree and all of us kids would gather around to decorate it. It was such a wonderfully fun family time that I incorporated it into our family traditions for my family. This year is going to be a tough one for our family as it will be the first one since my dad's passing, but my husband and I are determined that it is going to be a good one.

Every year with the first snow my siblings and I would go outside to build a snowman...and have snowball fights, build snow caves, you name it. If it was outside it was what we wanted to do it. So in memory of those fabulous times spent with my siblings and then my own children building snowmen I decided to use DS4J's Mr. Snowman.

I used a free cutting file from Birds Cards as my background. I then printed up my Mr. Snowman and coloured him with Prisma Pencil Crayons and oms. I added red glitter glue for his buttons and the trim of his hat, black glitter glue for his hat and star dust stickles for the snow and cutting file snowflakes. I cut out snowflakes to use as flowers using my Impression Obsession snowflake dies and punched out holly with my Martha Stewarts Holly punch.

We hope that you will join us in our challenge. It runs from Wednesday November 26 to Tuesday December 9th. We have some fabulous prizes to be won by those using DS4J image or other images. If you use a DS4J image you will be put into the running for a $10 Gift Voucher to the store...now wouldn't that be a great Christmas gift? And while you're there check out the fabulous creations that my team mates have created to amaze and inspire you. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Digistamps4Joy Mid Challenge Reminder

Hi all, it's time for our mid challenge reminder over at Digistamps4Joy. Our challenge right now is being hosted by our wonderful team mate Berni and she has chosen getting ready for holiday's/fall.

For my project I decided to do a Christmas card...and what do you do when Christmas comes around? You decorate!
I used 2 images for my card, First snow and Vintage Lantern Girl. I melded the images together and then fussy cut them out to put in the globe. The blue background paper is a dotted embossed cs by Bazzil. I used my own homemade flower soft for the snow on the ground (made by rubbing 2 styrofoam balls together). I used Perfect Pearls to make the falling snow and stickles on her coat and hat.

Our challenge runs until Tuesday November 23rd and we sure hope to see you join in. It is not required to use a DS4J image but if you do you will be in the running to win the DT choice prize which is a $10 Gift Voucher to the shop! For all of the rules and a list of prizes just head on over to our Challenge Blog. We hope to see you and your fabulous creations.

Thanks for the memories - Digitamps4Joy Challenge #103 Mid Challenge Post

Hi all, sorry I haven't been around for awhile. I have a shoulder injury that is playing havoc with my life right now. But, you didn't come here to listen to my problems lol. It's time for the mid challenge reminder at Digistamps4Joy. Our challenge this time is being hosted by the lovely Gloria and she has chosen 'Anything Goes' as the theme.

Recently my mom came to visit and we went to Victoria on Vancouver Island to visit with her brother and his daughter. We had such a wonderful time and we thought that it would be a nice idea to send a thank you card to my uncle for the fabulous visit and meals that he supplied for us. I have been waiting for the perfect occasion to use a very special stamp that I got a while back. For those who don't know, Margy's dear father was also a wonderful artist and drew many fabulous images in his lifetime. Margy has taken some of these images and made them into digital images. When Margy first digitized the image I am using she had a contest to name it and I won. So please let me introduce you to 'Talk About Fast Food'.
Isn't this image just fabulous? I figured that the bird falling down totally plucked and ready for cooking would be perfect for a thank you card for someone who fed you some meals lol. Here's a closer picture of the image.
I printed out the image and coloured it with my Prisma pencil crayons and oms. I then fussy cut it out and glued it onto the second panel in my center step card. I added a blue sky and clouds in the background and grass in front to make it look like he's in the wilderness hunting. The trees, clouds and the Thanks sentiment are a cut files from Birds Cards.
So now it's your turn to show us what you got. The challenge runs until Tuesday November 11th. You don't have to use a DS4J image, but if you do you will be put in the running to win the DT choice and the prize is a $10 Gift Certificate for use in the DS4J Store. For a list of all prizes and rules head on over to the DS4J Challenge Blog. And while you're there check out the incredible cards that my team mates have made to inspire you.

Thanks for popping in ~ Charlene
