CDAC Progressive Challenge #16

Well this is the last night for the progressive challenge at the CDAC and as usual I am getting my project in just under the wire. I decided to use the incredible image provided by Nana Vic's for my card. This image just took my breath away the first time that I saw it and I wanted to do a good job on it. And of course, that is when my mojo decided to take another "walk about" lol. So this is what I came up with.
Sorry about the picture, but it's night time here and I had to use a flash. This card is made with Burgundy polka dot BoBunny dp for the base, metallic gold cs by Recollections, and then another paper I had in my stash. The sentiment is from Desert Diva. The pearls I got at our local Dollar Store and the flowers were from a "grab bag" at Value Village. The image was colored with my Prisma Scholar Pencil Crayons and Laurentien Metallic Pencil Crayons and oms. Here's a close up of this fabulous image.
If you were unable to join us for this round of images, you can always buy in for a mere $1. That's right, $1 will get you up to 5 fabulous images and your chance to continue on and winning a wonderful prize. For more info and all of the rules, just go here.

Thanks for looking.....

Little Toy Trains

Hi all...now some of you may have already seen this post if you have been through Digistamps4Joy's Let's Move Blog Hop. If you would like to join in the Hop, please click here. I decided that I wanted to be able to enter this card into a few different challenges, so have done a new posting for it.

The image is a brand new image for Digistamps4Joy and is called Toy Train. If you haven't been to our new challenge blog and store, you might want to drop in. Margy and Jen have been working hard and putting a bunch of fabulous new images in with the already incredible images in the store.

I have done a double easel card for this image and paired it up with an image from Nana Vic's called Nana Vic's Baby Gift Box.
I've colored the two images with Prisma Scholar pencil crayons and oms. I have also used some silver metallic gel pen and gold metallic gel pen for accents.
I decided that I didn't want to add any kind of embellishments because I didn't want to take away anything from this cute little train, so I used a couple of the box cars as my embellishments.
The yellow cs is from SU, the red polka dot dp is by BoBunny and the train paper is from my stash...it's called Thomas the Tank, but I can't remember who it is by. I hope that we will see you at the hop where you will find more of our new images and some incredible inspiration by the DT.

   Thanks for looking.....Charlene

Let's Move Blog Hop

Welcome to Digistamps4Joy's New Beginnings Blog Hop. You have arrived at Charlene's Blog in Chilliwack, B.C. Canada

Digistamps4Joy is having this blog to introduce you to our new blog.  You will be starting with our Current Blog (Mel’s blog) and work your way through all the DT members blogs until you get to our New Blog. Here's a list of all the blogs and order of them in case you get lost.

Charlene (that’s me)
Desire (your next stop)

If you have gotten here from Carol’s Blog (Bunnysbitsnbobs) then you’re on the right path. If you just popped in, you’re going to want to go to the Digistamps4JoyCurrent Blog.
For the hop I got to play with a brand new digital image called Toy Train. I have a friend who’s daughter is pregnant so I decided to make a boy card just in case she has a boy. You can find the image in our new store here.
Nana Vic’s is my sponsor for this blog hop, so I combined the new Toy Train image with her Nana Vic’s Baby Gift Box. I decided that a double easel card was the best kind of fold for these great images.

I colored my images with Prisma Schlar Pencil crayons and oms. I used silver metallic gel pen on the edge of the gift box and on the train. I also used gold metallic gel pen on the stars on the train. The yellow cs is from SU, the Red polka dot dp is from BoBunny and the train paper is Thomas the tank, but it was a piece left in my stash and I don't know who makes it. I didn't add any embellishments as I felt that adorable train was embellishment enough.

Nana Vic has kindly donated a $12 Gift Voucher as a prize for my blog. You can find all of her incredible images and sentiments here. Thank you so much Vickie for your generous sponsorship, it is very appreciated.

So this now brings us to the rules for the hop. They're very simple and the rules are the same for each blog on the hop:

1) You MUST be a follower of all of the blogs on the hop. There are
only 10 (9 DT Members and the New Digistamps4Joy Blog). You do
not need to be a member of the Current Blog (Mel's), as it will no
longer be active after the hop.
2) Everyone entering MUST leave a comment on each blog (we will be
checking.). I'm not going to give you a question to answer, but you
do need to make a comment.
3) Everyone entering MUST be a member of our new CDAC-DS4J
    Group at http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/digistamps-for-joy .
If you are not a member of CDAC it is free and very easy to
join. Just click on this link and it will bring you to the main
page. Don't forget to come back to the Digistamps4Joy
    Group also.

The Blog Hop will run from  6 a.m. CAT (Central African Time) April 25th, 2012 - May 9th, 2012 . I will post my winner here on my blog on May 10th, 2012.
Your next stop is Desire. Thanks for popping by and joining our blog hop. Don't forget to leave a comment.

It's a Picture Inspiration Challenge

Hi all, it’s time for another challenge at Pattie’s Creations. And this time we have a Photo to inspire you!

Don’t you just love that blue and orange combination? Pattie has a really sweet image that I really wanted to work with for this challenge. It called Tulips in vase and you can find it here. Now I wanted this particular image because I thought it would be just so pretty on a card for my mom for her birthday. But I was in a rush to get it done and totally forgot about it being a photo inspiration challenge….and went totally in the wrong direction with colors lol. So I will be posting that one on a separate posting (oops). This is what I came up with for the challenge.

I colored it with Prisma Scholar and Laurentian pencil crayons and oms. The die I used was my Nestibilities Scalloped Ovals. The die on the back panel is Savannah Border by Memory Box. And I used my ticket punch by SU for the corners. The pearls were from my local dollar store. The orange flowers are by Prisma and the blue one's I made. The style of fold that I chose is a Tri Shutter.

The sentiment was a freebie from TLC Creations.  The small pearls on the leaves are by Recollections.

The rules for the challenge are simple. First, you must use either a digital image or stamp on your project. Use the photo as your inspiration. You don’t have to use a Pattie’s Creations image, but if you do you will receive an extra entry into the random draw. If you don’t have a Pattie’s Creations image, Pattie does, from time to time, post freebies on her challenge blog. Look at the top under Freebie of the Month. You can find the full contest rules here .

Sugar and Spice

Sugar and spice and all things nice, that’s what little girls are made of….and of course for some of them it’s also snakes and snails and puppy dog tails lol.

I am so excited to be able to show you this card, not just because I am totally surprised at managing to finish just in time, but because this was a collaboration card. My dd came to me last night wanting me to print up an image for her to color. When I asked her what she wanted, she said a teddy bear. Well that worked just fab for me because I have wanted to get a card done for the CDAC Progressive Challenge done and the theme is "It's all about the Bears". My dd picked the adorable image by Bugaboo to do. So I told her that if she colored it, I would make a card with it. So she colored it and picked out all the different papers for it while I looked for a layout to do with it. And this is what we came up with.

She colored it with Prisma Scholar, Laurentian and Crayola pencil crayons. Then I went over it with oms and did a bit of shading. She colored the halo with gold metallic gel pen and the wings were done with gold flecked stickles. She traced around the stars also with the gold metallic pen. I used my SU Pastels to make a light blue "sky" background around our Teddy.

Didn’t she do a fabulous job? I am so proud of her. The red textured cs is by Recolletions, the polkadot dp is from SU, the pink embossed paper is by Canson Expressions (from our local dollar store): Cotton Candy - Rosebud and the pink cs used for the sentiment is from SU. The sentiment is from Nana Vic's.

The layout is a sketch for Guylou's current challenge. Hopefully you'll check out their challenge and all the fabulous creations her DT has put together. This is the sketch I followed.

There is still a few hours to get in on the CDAC Progressive challenge and another 3 days to get in on Guylou's challenge.

Pattie's Creations Challenge # 41 - Easter

It’s Easter time again…time for Bunnies and chocolates…and of course remembering why we have an Easter to begin with…Christ dyeing on the cross. Over at Pattie’s Creations we are having an Easter Challenge. Yup…anything Easter! It can be bunnies or chick or crosses…whatever makes you think of Easter that’s what we want to see. Your creations MUST HAVE A DIGITAL OR STAMPED IMAGE on it though.

Now I usually don’t make Easter cards, but I got this really beautiful image to play with, and since we are going to see my parents for Easter, I was very happy to be able to make them this card to bring with me. The image I used it called Thinking ofYou.

The sentiment “Thinking of You” comes with the image…I added the “On This Joyous Easter Day”. And this image is so versatile...you can use it for so many different types of cards and projects.

The sc is from Recollections and the dp is from my local dollar store. The ribbon is from my stash. I coloured it with my Prisma Scholar pencil crayons and oms and I distressed the image with SU pastels.

The sentiment “Thinking of You” comes with the image…I added the “On This Joyous Easter Day".
I did a Double Z fold for my card and you can find the tutorial for it here.
I hope that you will join us for this fabulous challenge. We would really love to see what you come up with. For all for all of the rules and a list of prizes, please go to Pattie'sCreations Challenge Blog . While you're there, check out the incredible creations that my fellow teamies have made...they'd love to hear what you think.

I want to wish each and everyone of you that comes to my blog a Very Happy and Blessed Easter weekend.

Digistamps4Joy Challenge #40: Celebration

It’s time for another fabulous challenge over at Digistamps4Joy and this time the theme is Celebrate!  Any kind of celebration....birthday, anniversary, wedding...the choices are endless. The only condition is that it must have glitter, sparkle and bling. I don’t know about you, but I just love anything that glitters and sparkles…or as my dear daughter would say “Ooooh Shiney’s”…she loves everything that glitters and sparkles too! So for this challenge we want you to add the glitter, the stickles, the rhinestones...whatever you want to make your creation really shine!

For this challenge I wanted to go with something just a little bit different. It was my brother’s birthday recently and I wanted to do him a card that was just a bit “off the wall”, in other words…let my warped sense of humour come out! So the image that I chose to play with is Digistamps4Joy’s Lil Dragon (with extra detail). You can find it and all of their other fab creations here.

I coloured him using my metallic water colour paints and 2 different red glitter pens. I also used some metallic gold on his horns and claws.

Now you have to admit, for a dragon he’s pretty darn cute! I did the glittering lines on the base cardstock myself. I found a great tutorial on how to do it here. And it was so super easy to do! The sentiment is one that I came up with myself...yup...the warped sense of humour in full swing!

I just had to take a picture with my flash so that you could see how wonderfully he shines with that metallic water colour paint.

So the rules of the challenge are pretty simple...go to our challenge blog with your creation, you don't have to use a Digistamps4Joy image but would we ever be hopping up and down with happiness if you did, and add it to our wonderful little linky tool. Those who use a Digistamps4Joy image will get not just one extra entry but TWO extra entries into our challenge and a chance to win a $6 Gift Voucher. How's that for a little bonus? The random.org winner will win 3 images of their choice. Sounds pretty great huh? So what are you waiting for...head on over to our challenge blog and check out the challenge and all of the rules. And while you're there, check out what my teamies have come up with...but beware...there's lots of glitter and sparkle happening!

Just a reminder.....

Keep checking back over the next couple of weeks...here or on the Digistamps4Joy Blog....we have some exciting news coming from Digistamps4Joy and you really are not going to want to miss out on it!!
