Halloween

Hey all...well it's the night before Halloween (actually technically it's Halloween Day) and we've just gotten back from the Halloween Party we went to. Was at my best friend's house...we had a blast! Anyways, thought that I would post a picture of my wonderful husband, Mr. Whoopie Cushion...my beautiful daughter, Miss Goth...and me The Sourceress.

It was also my furbaby Molly's first birthday today. So my MIL and FIL brought Molly's sister Heidi over and we had a little bit of a birthday party for them. And a good time was had by all her guests...although they all had too much cake and treats! lol
Molly with her sisters Heidi and Lady (Lady is the sister from another mother lol), and her girl Kat

Here's the Birthday "Cake"

Molly licking the "icing" off of her cake

Heidi enjoying her cake

Lady waiting to see if Molly has any left overs...yeah right! Better luck next time Lady!

I WISH YOU ALL A SAFE AND HAUNTINGLY HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Christmas Wishes

Hey everyone...woke up this morning and guess what...it was cloudy out! I know you're all thinking that there's nothing new about that...and you're right, but I gotta work with what I've got! lol I was asked by someone this morning...and you know who you are...when doesn't it rain here? In the dead middle of summer when we need it of course! So I was up really late trying to finish off my newest creation. I call it Christmas Wishes because of the song that I used in the background.
Originally I was looking for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, but apparently there is still a copy write on that song so I couldn't get it. But I figured that We wish you a Merry Christmas wouldn't be a bad second...at least it gets the message across! I started out with my wonderful image of Rudy from the Ellephantastic shop. If you get a chance, check her out, she's got some great images...and while you're at it check out the Crafter's Digital Art Centre...you'll find a whole wack load of wonderful digi's (to buy and some freebies, and some really fun challenges to get the juices flowing) and you'll meet some really great people. Anyways, to get back to the card...I found the wonderful sheet music online at ChristmasCarolMusic.org They have a whole bunch of freebie sheet music to download. The paper is Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive from SU. The specialty paper used on the top and bottom of my card is by BoBunny. The green paper behind Rudy is the other side of the BoBunny holly paper. I colored Rudy in using SU water color pencil crayons and added a red nose using a red gel glitter pen I found at Micheals. All the emellishement, including the ribbon, were bought at Michaels.

Thanks for coming and visiting me here at my blog.

Video

If you have a chance, check out the video in my side bar to the left. Was cruzin around Christmas sites last night looking for free Christmas sheet music and I came across these guys...They are incredible! The first song I listened to was their Christmas Medley...it's hilarious. When I went to download it I couldn't figure out how to download just the one video...so I got 4! That's o.k...they're really good. Hope you have the time to check them out.

I'm Sorry....

So I finally managed to finish my sister's anniversary card...unfortunately for me it is very late...I thought her anniversary was near the end of the month...it's at the beginning. Hence the reason this one is titled "I'm Sorry...". I found this little gem at Nana Vics and thought that it was just perfect for a very late card.

I used Nana Vics wonderful little Crying Owl Image
Paper is SU - Close to Cocoa and Night of Navy
I also used White paper from Michaels
Ink - SU Chocolate Chip, River Rock, Mellow Moss, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, and Brocade Blue
Ribbon from Michaels
Patterned Paper from Dollar Giant.
Image colored with SU Water Color Pencils and Crayola Crayon Pencil Crayons

My Newest Card

So I decided that no matter what I was going to finish the birthday card for my sister today. And what do you know...I actually mnaged to do it! So here's my creation. The uncolored Wagon with pumpkins and corn image is by Karen's Doodle's.
I used SU Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight and Elegant Eggplant paper. Then I used So Safron and More Mustard ink for the sky.  I used a SU Lg roller wheel covered with More Mustard ink to make the design on the Daffodil Delight paper.  The ribbon (brown and yellow that matched the paper almost perfect) was from Michaels.

The rare Parrot Flower from Thailand

Hey everyone,
I got an email based on this very rare flower from Thailand. I thought that it was so unique and decided to post it in case anyone wanted to try and draw it. And even if no one wants to draw it, it is a beautiful flower! I have more pics of it if anyone is interested. ~ Charlene

My cards from card class

Ooops...I goofed when I posted how I did the Charles Dickens card (which is from a SU set). I have that I inked it in black first and then added the versa mark...wrong! I versa marked it first then inked with the black ink. Any of you have actually done this technique know what I'm talking about, but I didn't want to confuse those that hadn't. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Card Class

So I had my card class last night. It went really well considering I had only had about 5 hours sleep! lol It's really unfortunate that I do my best work late at night. But we had a great time...my friend was really nice and brought some wine. And my own little Betty Crocker (my daughter Kat) made chocolate cookies and 2 different kinds of tarts (all of it from scratch). My friends asked if they could rent her out for Christmas. Of course I said no...otherwise we'll have no Christmas goodies! lol
I came up with 2 different cards for the night and the ladies really loved them. And they all did very well with making them. A few of them were even interested in the CDAC...so hopefully they'll check it out.  So if any of you are interested I have posted the new pics that I did below.

Our men and women in Afghanistan

I was just looking through some of my old emails and came across this one. With Remembrance Day coming and Christmas too, I just thought it was something that I would like to share with all of you. Please say a prayer for all of our men and women that are not able to be home because of this war...and for the families that stand behind them in their decision to do so. I know that I will be for all our allied forces. Please remember the sacrifices that they are all so willing to make. Thanks ~ Charlene

A Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch o ver me, and my wife and my child.

'What are you doing?' I asked without fear,
'Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!'
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts.

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said 'Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here e ver y night.'
'It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,'
Then he sighed, 'That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers.'
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall.'

'  So go back inside,' he said, 'harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right.'
'But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
'Give you money,' I asked, 'or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son.'

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
'Just tell us you love us, and ne ver forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us.'

PLEASE, would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many
people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our
U.S service men and women for our being able to celebrate these
festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people
stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.

I Did It!!!

Well I can't believe it...I finally made a card using a digi stamp. It's not perfect...but then neither am I. It's for a friend's son who's girlfriend just had a baby. Beautiful little baby girl :D. The stamp is by Baby Bud Designs. As soon as I saw it I thought it would be perfect for the Congratulations card. First down....more to go lol

Card Class

O.K...I'm going to try this again. I am so totally new at all of this so I hope that you all will have patience with me. I am trying to let designers know that I am hosting a casual get together of some friends to make some cards. These are ladies that already make cards or are interested in learning how that have been asking me for months to hold a class. I would like to make a list of all the different blog addresses/store addresses of anyone that would be interested in having me advertise their sites to these women. If you are interested please send me a message to my email address: charlenebell2@hotmail.com with your name and addresses that you want on the list and I will add them. Thanks.

My Blog

Well hello everyone. Thanks to Guylou and Tracy S. I now have a blog. Please have patience with me as this is the first time that I have ever tried something like this lol. As you can probably tell by the pictures that I've managed to post, I haven't quite learned the fine art of staging yet. Well that will come with time. I am learning new things everyday thanks to my friends at CDAC. It's overcast here on the west coast again...or as we call it "the wet coast". We are expecting...what else...rain today. Can't spend much time on here as I have to get down to my craft area and get some cards done. So I hope that you'll check back on me occassionally and I will try to post some more stuff soon.
